This is the Privacy Statement of StartMySong.com.  We understand that our members and Web site visitors are concerned about the privacy of information.  We have established policies and procedures concerning the collection, use and security of your information that will help protect your privacy.  Our Privacy Statement is designed to help us serve our members and visitors while maintaining strict privacy and security standards.

What information do we collect from our Web site visitors?

StartMySong.com is the sole owner of the information collected on StartMySong.com, and from its licensed software.  StartMySong.com will not sell, share, or rent this information to others in ways different from what is disclosed in this statement

Cookies & IP Addresses.Cookies are data files that websites store on your computer's hard drive. Cookies allow StartMySong.com to analyze site use, target ads, store your preferences/passwords (if you've registered) and personalize your experience (including tracking your site use to do so).  Use of cookies can be rejected or modified by configuring most web browsers.  If you're not registered, rejecting cookies won't noticeably affect your experience on StartMySong.com.  You must accept cookies to access StartMySong.com as a registered user.

How is our information secured?

We have commercially reasonable security measures in place in our physical facilities to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our Web site.  This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control.  We make a diligent effort to ensure that our secure server software (SSL) is the industry standard for secure commerce transactions.  Our SSL encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, to protect the information as it travels over the Internet.  We also take contractual, administrative and physical steps to protect against unauthorized access to and disclosure of individually identifiable information.  If, during their employment, our employees acquire confidential or proprietary information belonging to StartMySong.com or its users, such information will be handled in confidence and may not be disclosed to unauthorized third parties.  Please note, however, that no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure.  As a result, we cannot guarantee the security of the information that you transmit via our online services.

Registration/Member Data.

When you register, you provide us with some personal data (including your email address).  You can also tell us more about yourself through your account pages or through site features available to registered users.  We use registration and member data for many purposes, including to target ads to you and to email you (including newsletters and alerts).  In most cases, you can configure your account to turn these emails on and off.  However, some administrative emails (such as emails about user agreement changes or administrative communications) are not optional while you have an account.


Email-Only Registration.You may subscribe to emails or newsletters by providing only your email address and password, which we use to create a username and account for you.  For privacy purposes, an email-only account acts like a registered account.  However, you cannot use some site functionality until you complete your registration.  Currently, StartMySong.com does not have email-only registrations available.

Feedback.

We may ask for your feedback through a survey, which we treat like other business records.

We may get data from or about you in other ways not specifically described in this statement.  For example, we may get a third party complaint about you.  We handle this data like other business records.  However, if we tell you elsewhere that specific data is governed by rules that supplement or contradict this statement, those rules trump this statement.

Data Changes.

If you terminate your account or delete/change your data or content, we usually update our live databases immediately.  To do this, please edit your account profile.  However, some data may update more slowly, and some old data may remain in our archives and records.  Also, we may be unable to propagate changes to partners who receive your data or content.  If your account is being terminated or suspended, we may maintain some data to prevent re-registration.

Children.

If you are age 18 and under, please do not use the site or provide any data to us.

We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 18 or knowingly allow such persons to register.  If you are under 18, please do not attempt to register for StartMySong.com or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address.  No one under age 18 may provide any personal information to or on StartMySong.com.  In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under age 18 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible.  If you believe that we might have any information from or about a someone under 18, please contact us at info@StartMySong.com.

Additional Disclosures to Use of Your Information

We use your information to deliver personalized services, content and advertisements to enhance your experience with us.  For example, we may send you an e-mail with a special offer or discount from one of our affiliates, divisions or participating sponsors based on an area of interest under your personal profile when you registered.

We provide a 'Contact Artist' link in the website to allow for Third Parties to contact you regarding use, purchase, or contracting of your Song. We do not give away any of your personal information that you have not chosen todisplay on your profile. If you feel you are being contacted for non legitimate purposes, please alert us at comments@startmysong.com  so that we may remove any users in question.

We reserve the right, without disclosing your personally identifiable information to third parties, to use the information you provide to offer you additional or third party products and services that we think will be of interest to you.  If you respond to such an offer and contact a third party directly, that third party's privacy policy will apply to any information you provide and/or that is collected by such third party and we are not responsible for that party's use of your information.  In addition, on occasion, we may ask for your consent to share particular data with a third party.  This is always at your option and is not required.

We also do disclose aggregated data to our advertisers and other third parties to generate reports, marketing and technical research and for related business purposes.  Our advertisers allow us to provide our service to you.  In return, they need to know how to effectively place their ads to potential customers.  For example, we tell advertisers how many people saw or clicked on an ad and additionally, how many people saw or clicked on ads in different portions of our service.  Where available, we may offer additional information about viewer characteristics.  However, this does not include personally identifiable information about you or your online usage patterns.

You have the option to subscribe to receive various e-mail and mail updates when you register.  We will use these updates to provide you with additional discounts, special offers, site upgrades, new features, events, promotions, and much more.  You have the option to opt out of receiving these communications by contacting us.

Improper Conduct

Advertisements.
