"My Dad" lyrics

My mom told me my dad’s not coming home. Where is my dad can I talk to him on the phone? Then  she told me that he loves me just the same, but if he loves me why won’t he come home, and play my games, hold my hand, and be with me, where’s  my dad?

It’s been three years I shouldn’t still be sad.  I give my life just to touch and see my dad. I used to be so glad when dad came through the door, now I cry myself to sleep and wonder if I’ll ever see my dad anymore. I love my dad.

And then one day Johnny talked to me, he told me of a father that loved me. I asked him if he thought this dad could be my friend, could he be a dad to me and promise me he’ll never, leave and be, my dad; could he?

He said if I would just believe in him, he be my dad and forgive all my sin. He’d be the kind of dad I needed all the time, he never leave me and would be there everyday and be my friend, hold my hand, and be with, my dad.

Spoken:  (God bless mommy and daddy, Teeny and Tom, Grandma and Grandpa. and Lord,  thanks for being my dad. In Jesus name Amen.)

About my song

My Dad is a stirring song about a little girl who finds out her dad isn’t going to come home any more. She learns from a friend that she can have a Dad that will never leave her and will always be her friend by trusting in Jesus. (a much needed message for today)
