"It's Not Easy" lyrics

IT’S NOT EASY

It’s evening time on a Friday

I’m sitting alone in my house

This week didn’t have a payday

This week didn’t have any work

I’ll look in the fridge for some bread now

And check the date on the milk

And every week I renew my vow

To smile and do my best

But sometimes it’s not easy

Sometimes it’s a little hard

To keep on rising everyday

To keep on trying, trying to get work

In the daytime sometimes I’m a prisoner

With no money to pay my way out

In the daytime sometimes I’m lonely

With no friends to have around

I’ll look in the jar in the hallway

There might be a few coins that I saved

And every penny is a precious one

Every penny might save my life

About my song

Life in the current recession, trying to keep smiling and keep positive while handling the realities of life. I actually see it as a ‘feel good song’. Things will get better. This version is my demo for the band, so the final one will have much better singing and nice playing. But even as it is I believe it relates the essence and feel of the song quite nicely. Love to hear someone good singing it! (apart from the band of course!)

Great Good intentions version with John O’grady singing now available on new CD ‘Sacred Ground’ and Itunes
