"Single Girl" lyrics

Single Girl

A single girl with cigarettes

Came into the bar at eleven p.m.

‘Have you got a light, do you play with fire?’

She asked in an offhand way…

I said, I don’t like smokers but I like your friend

I could talk to her, I’d have something to say.

So I took her home in my two door car

I hoped she’d ask me up to stay

We got along well, we got along good

Went out for breakfast after three whole days…

‘So will you stick around, will you take me out’

She asked me twice with a wistful smile.

Yeah, I took her out in that two door car

Did a hundred and ten for every mile

Did a hundred and ten for every mile.

A hundred and ten for every mile

A single girl with cigarettes

Came into the bar at eleven p.m.

‘Have you got a friend, ‘you know someone nice

I’d like to meet them, if I could’

She left her cigarettes, on the counter

He left the beer and they were good.

But we were gone in that two door car

Doing a hundred and ten to every mile

A hundred and ten to every mile.

A hundred and ten to every mile.

A hundred and ten to every mile.

A hundred and ten to every mile.

About my song

I wrote the basis of this song one week and when Dermott called over on the Saturday, he took out his Telecaster and we very quickly finished it. Great demo of it here by Dermott, it works so well I’m reluctant to add anything to it! The band version will have a bit more on but I think this Vocal/Acoustic Guitar version is just SO GOOD. Have a listen. October 2010 – in rehearsal for ‘Sub-Zero Heroes’ album by Good Intentions.
