Ben Deignan Bio
With words like “orgasmic” and “addictive” used by critics and fans to describe his music, Ben Deignan is causing quite a stir in the music world.
Heavily influenced by Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye, Ben Deignan grew up as a soul junky. It wasn’t until seeing U2 in concert at the age of 15 that he began to dive into the world of rock, picking up the family’s six-string and forming various garage bands in junior high. Since then, the singer/songwriter has spent the last 6 years crafting an original, Southern, soulful pop/rock sound, and blossoming into a 22-year-old funkster that’s turning heads in clubs around the Southeast and beyond. Ben also cites Bono and The Police among his influences, and sounds like something you’d hear on the radio, only more interesting.
It was only a few years ago, while playing his dad’s company party at the Tin Roof Cantina in Atlanta, that Deignan was discovered by an A&R rep for a major record label. That exposure led him to renowned Atlanta-based musician, arranger and multi-platinum certified vocal producer Jan Smith (Usher, Rob Thomas, Matchbox Twenty, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Collective Soul, Edwin McCain, TLC, Sevendust, India Arie, Diana DeGarmo, Los Lonely Boys), who signed Deignan to a development and production deal and helped the fresh-faced Deignan prep his pipes. In 2008, Deignan completed his first full length album and set out on an extensive touring schedule with his band, Ben Deignan & Suburban Soul. Two singles from the album, “Palm of Your Hand” and “OH” have been picked up for promotion to over 300 radio stations nationwide in 2009.
Busy playing shows and writing songs, Ben is generating a significant amount of major label interest. He’s also developed a worldwide fan base throughout the UK, Europe, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and South America with thousands of subscribers and more than 1.7 Million views of his live music on YouTube. Everything is possible for Ben Deignan as he gains momentum with his amazing vocals, catchy, clever lyrics, and explosive live performances.
